Throat pain: There are several ways to treat a sore throat- salt water gargles, listerine zero rinses, cepacol rinses- all over the counter oral rinses that will assist with keeping the area clean and assist in promoting healing. Motrin  can assist, to coat the ulcer, a cocktail of maalox and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with or without some lido swish and spit can cover the sore so you can eat and swallow. Dds/md rx needed.

Oral cancer usually presents by 50 years of age, and in the form of non-healing ulcers that can be painful.  It is caused most by alcohol and tobacco use, including smoking and chewing/smokeless tobacco.  The doctor can give you pain meds. And also find the cause of this.

Anti gas: Try some over the counter anti gas preparations. If no relief, see your doctor. It could be that you have gastroparesis associated with the gerd, a condition where the stomach doesn't empty right, but this is fairly unlikely.

Pain: Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) should only be used for short term pain relief.  I would say 4 to 5 days max. How long have you had this pain? Was it an MD or DDS that looked at the sore and gave you the Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen)?  Mouth ulcers should heal within 7 to 10 days and rarely are they painful enough to take strong narcotics. I would recommend that you see your dentist.

Possibly: There are likely some that occur &amp; self heal. Chance avoidance of aggravating foods/factors might help them.  I expect they happened in the 18th century when few treatments were available. These would be the ones that never caused enough symptoms to trigger an evaluation. Noticed ulcers tend to worsen over time. Why someone would avoid available treatment is unknown.
