Twins: if you are having twins then there is about 1/3 chance that they will be of the same gender as it would be from monozygote ie one egg and one sperm thus you have a 2/3 chance that there are 2 eggs (Dizygotic) and if they are dizygotic there is about 50 percent chance that they will be of different genders so in short you have a 1/3 chance of carrying twins of different genders. at 9.5 weeks with twins, heartbeats were 167 and babies are 2.7cm & 3cm. at this point, what are the chances of miscarrying one or both twins?

Chances are lower: Obviously twins are a higher risk for complications than a single gestation but with 2 very healthy heartbeats you certainly can breathe somewhat easier. Your OB will go over with you risks of twins at the various gestational ages but i would try to relax at this point.

About 30%: 25-30% of twin pregnancies will reduce to one naturally.  In addition there is a 5% risk of loss after 20 weeks.  I know that is scary but keep in mind that a normal single pregnancy has about the same risk of miscarriage.

Maybe higher: you really need to do a formal family tree with a geneticist to get a better idea, but it seems that you would be at a higher risk than others for twinning.

1st ultrasound, ~6 weeks 4days. two amniotic sacs but difficulty viewing 2nd. one heartbeat for sure. what are the chances of viable twins still & how good are the chances of at least one viable baby?

Two Sacs: Human twinning is very common.  In fact, ultrasound has shown that it is more common that previously thought.  Many times one of the fetus will fail to develop.  This should not affect the long term growth of the surviving twin.

why such low chance of  twins/higher order multiples on clomid, (clomiphene) when it is so common to produce more than one follicle? does hcg trigger up the odds?

Clomid (clomiphene): Clomid (clomiphene) patients do have  a higher rate of twins than spontaneous pregnancy rates, but proper clomid (clomiphene) use usually leads to fewer appropriate size follicles than the injectible fertility meds.  The advantage is less chance of ovarian hyperstimulation, which can lead to torsion and surgery/possible loss of the ovary.  Hcg won't necessarily increase twin rates.

About Compassion: While some ppl who commit suicide may have suffered from psychotic symptoms (hallucinations, delusions &/o other forms of distorted perceptions/thoughts) most have not. They're just' human beings who come 2feel a terrible sense of hopelessness, despair &/or shame...Who come 2 believe there's no way out. Ur doc was evidently suffering. But s/he may have helped many despite own personal struggles.

Suicide: Suicide is often the cause of depression and other brain illnesses.  Suicide causes the obvious loss of life, and also creates suffering, guilt, and sadness among those 'left behind'.  It is not about forcing one to live, it is about treating an illness that makes individuals think of suicide.  Suicide is harmful for the person that attempts or commits suicide and everyone who knows them.

Lethality of attempt: Per your statistics, 3% succeed, and unfortunately your friend was one of those. Suicide attempts vary widely in both lethal intent and lethality of method. Overdoses with some pills may cause only prolonged sleep, while overdoses with others (especially if mixed with alcohol) are rapidly fatal. Jumping, firearms, and hanging are highly lethal methods, more likely to succeed on the first try.
