Accepted Answer

No: You are only able to get pregnant when you ovulate which has nothing to do with your cervix being open.  Ovulation is an unpredictable event so start using contraception as soon as your health care provider says it is safe to resume sexual ntercourse unless you want to get pregnant again.

NO: Your cervix should close immediately after an abortion- if the abortion is 'complete'. You can't get pregnant 'immediately' afterwards b/c your body wont be ovulating for a little while after the abortion occurs.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Not everyone after abortion has scarring of the cervix. So, please just attempt pregnancy and then if issues arise they will be addressed by your clinician. Good Luck!

See your OB/GYN: First, it would be highly unlikely for your cervix to be "open" without being pregnant. Your gynecologist should be able to assess your cervix by physical examination and direct visualization.  If your doctor thinks it is necessary, an ultrasound examination can also assess your uterus, cervix and ovaries.

Doesnt make sense: Honestly that does not make sense. The cervix will not be dilated in a nor pregnant person. The position of the cervix as well as the way it feels on examination in a nonpregnant person is not particularly meaningful or useful. I suggest scheduling a visit for a pelvic exam and you can show the doctor what it is you are feeling and have your findings confirmed.

Depends: I'm not sure what kind of "medical report" you had, possibly an ultrasound?  If you have been pregnant before, then the assumption is that you should be able to get pregnant again unless something states otherwise.

No "worries": The medication used to "ripen the cervix" is temporary and  time self limited. Your cervix then returns to its' prior state soon after the termination within 2 weeks.

Maybe: It depends on how far pregnant you were and the means needed to dilate your cervix. It would not affect getting pregnant, but possibly chances of preterm delivery.

Normal: The normal cervix is always "open".  If the cervix is not open then conception cannot happen. The menstrual flow would be retained in the uterus , which would soon become a big problem.

Need more info: If you have gotten pregnant in the past, I do not see any reason why your cervix should be closed now. Did you have any cryosurgery or any surgery done on your cervix since your last pregnancy? Are you getting your menstrual cycles? If you are bleeding, I doubt your cervix is closed. Maybe you need to clarify the issue with your doctor. Good Luck.
