Accepted Answer

No notable hair loss: While the scar itself, generally a fine line about 1 mm wide, does not have hair follicles, there should not be any notable hair loss around the scar and it will be completely hidden by the surrounding hair.

fibrosis/keloid scar on my head. if i have it removed will my hair grow back through the scar? will the scar be long and thin or round like keloid

Accepted Answer

No clear answer: After scar  or keloid removal in the scalp it is unusual for the hair to grow back through the new scar. It is even possible that you could lose some hair around the new scar depending on how large the original keloid was. Keloids are somewhat prone to regrow so you could also need some cortisone shots around the new scar or even other treatments to help minimize the chance of recurrence.

Not by itself: Generally, hair will not grow in a scar, and the wider the scar the larger the gap.  But surgery can usually help, either by scar revision to make a spread scar narrower or by individual hair grafts, similar to the treatment of male pattern baldness.

: Not fully clear that hair loss is due to your lamotrigine in view of a 6 month delay.  See a dermatologist and get fully evaluated

This is not a diagno: This is a description of microscopic observation on biopsy, NOT A DIAGNOSIS. Need discussion with DR for that.

Not sure: That is a really good question for which i cannot provide a certain answer. My guess is it can be done if there is no underlying connective tissue disorder but you would have to ask the american red cross.

Usually No: Once the cause of the traction alopecia is removed the hair will usually grow back as long as it has not been going on for too long.  Unfortunately, chronic traction alopecia can result in permanent hairloss in the area.  Traction alopecia is not one of the conditions of hairloss that spreads unless the source of traction is spreading to other areas of the scalp.

Forget it: It is not due to any "deficiency". If you want to deal with real facts and possible treatment, see a dermatologist.

Possibly: It sounds like you may have a couple things going on.  Tired symptoms could be related to thyroid or other internal disease.  You should get a regular medical evaluation.  The hair should grow back if the underlying problem is found.
