Generally, yes.: at least 50% of patients with IBS reported having had their first symptoms prior to age 35. The prevalence is 25% lower in patients who were 50 years age or older. This suggests that symptoms in some patients may improve over time. It is also about twice is common in women as in men. Good luck.

Stool bulk: Stool bulk varies with intestinal contents(solid vs liquids) and transit time through the intestinal tract. It is not unusual for a large stool to be followed by a thinner stool or, in the case of irritable bowel syndrome, by progressively looser stools as the morning goes on. Patients with ibs often alternate with constipation and diarrhea depending on intestinal motility on a given day.

Protect your clothes: If you occasionally leak, thru a wet toot or difficulty making it to the can on time this might help you temporarily. I can't see any adult walking around with the same load a 3yo won't live with.

May help: Levsin (hyoscyamine) may help with the intestinal cramps of ibs.  However, no medication should be taken without a physician's approval- the 60 year old may have a different problem!

See answer: altered bowel habits is a feature of IBS and relates to several factors including spasms of the bowel, altered bacterial environment, and sensitivity to certain food triggers. For many IBS patients, stress/anxiety seem to provoke the already sensitive nerves and can flare up their IBS symptoms. : If you can identify foods that trigger intestinal symptoms, research the Fodmap diet for many foods to avoid. You could also try taking some of our very old intestinal antispasmodic medications like dicyclomine, donnatal or probanthine. These can be taken as needed or as a preventative 1/2 hour before main meals. Discuss with your physician or gastroenterologist.

hi there, both my children have sacral dimples and i have realised as an adult so do i. i have weakness with my knees and ibs. should i consult my gp?
