Unnatural cycle...: induced by Provera (medroxyprogesterone) withdrawal can be unpredictable.  If a perimenopausal patient goes many months between periods, the lining could have been very thick over that time and the period longer and heavier.  Also around menopause, the estrogens needed to rebuild a new lining to seal off the old can be reduced.  If you are concerned and the bleeding is not slacking off, see your GYN.

Amenorrhea: After taking Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for amenorrhea ( no periods) patients must wait at least 1 to 2 weeks after last dose to see their period. If period is less than usual that is still considered a succesful therapy. If no period, other causes must be ruled out.

A few days: Normally the Provera (medroxyprogesterone) helps build up the lining of the endometrium. When you stop the Provera (medroxyprogesterone) you effectively have a withdrawal bleed. It is not really a menstrual period however it appears to be the same thing to you.  If it is over a week and you still don't have a bleed i would go back and be rechecked.

Normal: It is normal to have period after taking progesterone.  Discuss further with treating doctor if bleeding continues

Often not enough: That is a very standard regimen of Progesterone but it will not work on everyone. Schedule a follow up to go over the options. Most should have a pregnancy test, thyroid and prolactin tests done. Many patients with pcos will not cycle with this dose. Some need a higher dose and others will need to try birth control pills with estrogen and Progesterone to have a cycle.

if you take oral provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 10 days and if you get your period with it and then if you don't take it next month, will your period come on it's own?

Sometimes: It depends on the underlying problem.  Sometimes a short course of Provera (medroxyprogesterone) that is used to cause you to have a period will 'kick start' things and you will resume a normal cycle.  If it does not then you can take the medicine again.

i am sexually active and i have irregular period. i missed my periods so i took deviry but still haven't got my periods even after 10 days from intaje of last pill. what should i do doctor? and can i take deviry again and when?

: "Deviry" is a form of progesterone.  If taken and no bleeding occurs after "10 days" from stopping Deviry, it is possible that pregnancy has occurred.  Obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy.  With "irregular periods", and ovulation has occurred late in this cycle, there will be no bleeding, and the HCG test will be negative. Ask your gyn about birth control pills.

Post Clomid (clomiphene): The low level of progesterone suggests that your not pregnant (should be around 20 approximately a week before expected menses, and should climb if you are pregnant.  I suggest waiting another week for your period.

Stop abnormal bleed: Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is sometimes used to "reset" the lining of your uterus by performing a chemical a D &amp; C. This stops the abnormal bleeding initially. Then within 24 to 72 hours after your last Provera (medroxyprogesterone) tablet, your should have a heavy period.
