A : A broken toe is usually buddy taped to the toe next to it. However, if you believe your toe may be broken and the skin overlying the toe is broken, you need to get it checked; as this can lead to an infection of the bone.

Possible  fracture: If you see a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon they will physically examine you, obtain a medical history and  get x-rays. The x-rays will show if there is a fracture.

X-ray done?: Did they do an X-ray?  If they did and there was no obvious fracture they may be concerned that clinically it appears more serious and requires a second opinion.

Perhaps you did: Most broken toes will heal uneventfully unless markedly displaced 
gently tape to an adjacent toe and be careful with it and all should go well 
if you are further concerned then please see an orthopedic surgeon or pcp or a podiatrist

the bruising is normal.

Tape them together: If the toe is straight and you can bend it without a lot of pain then split it by taping it to the toe next to it. If the toe is crooked or very painful, go get an X-ray

Depends. : If it's very swollen and bruised, or if it isn't straight, you may have broken a bone or dislocated a joint. Urgent care might x-ray the toe to check, and can usually pop a small dislocation back into alignment. They'll teach you how to buddy-tape it to the next toe while it heals, and will give you pain medication.

Not yet: If it isn't out of place, and you are able to walk around with less and less pain, it's ok to give it some time.  Usually we give anti-inflammatory medication, tape it to the toe next to it to give support. Otherwise there is not much needed. If it gets worse or doesn't improve within 2 weeks, go ahead and get it checked out.

Healed already: At this time frame the bone is already healed.  It will most likely stay the way it is until is can be surgically corrected.  Good luck!
