Yes: Elevate high (statue of liberty) and use ice. Swelling is more common after open surgery than the newer endoscopic techniques.

Ice: I would apply ice to the swollen area. Also take antihistamine such as Benedryl. Keep hand elevated so swelling doesn't get worse.
