i just got my nose pierced. i now smell something funny. is this something serious?

Yes: There is always a potential for a skin infection with any piercing, especially those involving the nose or areas that are often covered. The funny odor could be a sign of infection and should be checked immediately.

i got my nose pierced 3 months ago and now i have a bump next to the piercing. could it be infected?

Accepted Answer

YES: Indolent infections in this area are often from staph infections.
Removing the piercing appliance, cleansing with peroxide, moist hot compresses, and neosporin ointment type topical antibiotics may be enough.  If worsening, see md for stronger antibiotics.

i just got my nose pierced yesterday, my nose is swollen and my nose stud has kind of sinked in my nose. it doesnt hurt but im worried about sinking?

Nose pierced: Apply hot moist compresses. Clean are with 3% peroxide and q-tips. May be infected. Rx for clindamycin indicated

Nose ring: Ideally, you should wait two weeks before swimming in order for the ring to heal. The biggest problem can be infection.  However, the chlorinated water can irritate the nose and also cause problems.

i got my nose pierced and theres a red bump forming into and out and if i use a sea salt solution will it go away
or if not how?

Depends: It depends on the nature of the bump. If it is due to inflammation, it will subside with resolution of inflammation. If it is a hypertrophic scar or keloid, it may require surgical intervention.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

nose pierced for 1 1/2yrs. ready to let it close up. how long will it take? are there any special things i should do? or do i just take it out & wait?

Nose piercing: Just take it out. It willpsr likely close. Some antibiotic ointment may help it like Bacitracin   it will be fine.  Good health to you !

Some caution: Although a nose piercing uses a relatively small gauge needle, those with ITP are at increased risk of bleeding due to deficiency in platelets which help with blood clotting.  In theory, you could have increased bleeding from the piercing.

Nose: Put ice, take painkillers. If nose swells or is  too sore or any redness on nose see doctor.

what's it like to get your nose pierced? how can you avoid infection and pain?

Accepted Answer

: Its a piercing so it will hurt a little - sometimes you can apply an OTC lidocaine gel to minimize the pain. With regard to infections - there is a risk  but its small - once done keep both sides clean
