i have white skin tags on my neck and one on each eyelid. these started appearing suddenly and the ones on my neck have been there for over a month. they keep popping up. they have not grown. what could be causing these? thanks!

Skin tags: Skin tags is caused by insulin resistance. You can start drinking folic acid and inositol to help with insulin resistance. Exercise 30min daily. Eat a balanced diet- can follow ketogenic diet or intermittend fasting.

i have two skin tags on my neck and i have pcos. does this automatically mean i have insulin resistance? slim but high carb diet, mostly whole grain.

PCOS ?'s: Skin tags are not related to PCOS, and are benign.  PCOS is best treated (once the diagnosis is certain) with oral bcp's, which prevent long term effects on the uterine lining  from high estrogen levels associated with PCOS.  Consult your gyn physician for his/her recommendations for using low dose bcp's.

Removal: Removal is easy but should be performed by dermatology. Please see a dermatologist and request removal. It can be performed with snipping under local anesthesia or cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen treatment) among others.

Find another doc: If you want them removed that badly, find a doctor who will do it, rather than risking traumatizing your skin and risking infection. You may have to pay cash if the skin tags are not significant enough to be covered by a plan.

Let me advise you: The following procedures may be used to remove skin tags: 
cauterization - the skin tag is burned off using electrolysis (heat is used to remove them) 
cryosurgery - the skin tag is frozen off using a probe containing liquid nitrogen 
ligation - the blood supply to the skin tag is interrupted 
excision - the skin tag is removed with a scalpel (it is cut out). Let your doctor do it for you.

Cauterization: There are several methods available for removing a skin tag, including cauterization, cryosurgery, excision, or surgical ligation. Cauterization uses a low current of electricity to generate heat that destroys the skin tag. Cryosurgery uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the skin tag. Excision is done with a scalpel. And ligation involves tying a thread around the base of the tag.

Hardly ever works...: ...In my experience. Many patients come in with the string still wrapped around their tags. We usually cut them off with a sharp sterile scissors and cauterize the base (after numbing them up, of course). The potential for bleeding and infection is high for do-it-yourselfers; this is not something i recommend you try yourself.

Skin tags: Skin tags are common and benign conditions of the skin. I dont see any issues in removing them during pregnancy however there is no harm in waiting to post delivery and then getting rid of them.
