Maybe: That is possible if the medication irritates the stomach. More commonly, the Plavix (clopidogrel) can contribute to bleeding. It is probable that your heartburn is related to something else. Of course, if the problem improved on stopping the Plavix (clopidogrel) then maybe it is the drug.

Unlikely: Plavix (clopidogrel) does not cause such acidity symptoms but acid refux can be the reason for your symptoms.

Side effect: It is better not to take some other medication to counteract side effects of another. Gerd and GI upsets can be a side effect of clopidogrel. It depends how long you have been taking it. If you have been taking it for a long time and this problem is new then it may not be the clopidogrel.

: I could find no interactions between plavix&amp;pepcid, but certain PPIs reduce the anticlotting effect of plavix.   Protonix and prevacid were preferred by the manufacturer of plavix.

Just like aspirin: The risk of gastrointestinal complications from Plavix (clopidogrel) is similar to Aspirin and includes gastritis/peptic ulcers, bleeding. Diarrhea, rash, low platelet count etc... Aspirin can be more problematic to asthmatics, but otherswise both meds have similar side effects. Plavix (clopidogrel) is only marginally better than Aspirin in term of benefit, but costs muc much more. Use some prilosec. Consult doc. Good luck.

pernicious anemia :b12 injections every 2 mths would taking 15 mg lansoprazole every day for two years with plavix to protect the stomach from side effects from anti-platelet .could this deplete b12 and magnesium and cause neurological symptoms?

No: And if you want another way to get extra B12, you can get B12 pills OTC. Take 1000 unit pill once a day. Will yield same result as injections. Do you really need Lansoprazole???? Are you sure? Why taking Plavix for 2 years? Usually Plavix is used for 6 to 12 months after a stent or CABG. You should be taking an uncoated baby aspirin once a day.

right rib cage pain for months.nr bottom of ribs. not excruciating but tender, aching and every day.cant sleep on that side.blood tests for liver are fine.i have ibs &gerd- could this be the cause?no fever,weight loss or jaundice.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. hello, for months i've had a white coated tongue returning every day despite proper oral hygiene. i've tried antibiotics, lozenges, and gerd medication. i see my pc physician again next month, but i would like some insight on possible causes. ?

White tongue: May be Thrush, a fungal infection. Antibiotics will kill bacteria, permitting overgrowth of fungus. Treatable with specific anti-fungal meds. See your General Dentist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Spasmodic cough: if  GERD try ranitidine / prevecid &amp;elevate head of bed . May also be post nasal drip/sinusitis  for which zyrtec prior to bed and elevation of head when sleeping may help. May be allergic zyrtec should help or asthma-may need inhaler. Could be other conditions as well, so would check CXR-sarcoid TB, masses, clots. occasionally mycoplasma- tx w zithromax .  f/u/ w/ pulmonary/ allergist.,
