i have had diarrhea for 24 hours now. everything i eat goes right through me. i am a 25 yr old healthy woman what should i do?

Keep hydrated: Maintaining adequate hydration and electrolyte levels is the most important thing for an otherwise healthy individual with severe diarrhea.  Keep drinking lots of fluids with sugar and electrolytes (like gatorade type products).  If you notice your heart beating faster, or your urine getting darker in color, go to the hospital for IV fluids.

15 hours of vomiting and diarrhea. zofran (ondansetron) and promethizine didn't help. now i have massive headache & chest pain. i'm healthy 35 yr female. ideas?

Gastroenteritis : Vomiting could last 6-12 hrs (sometimes 24hr), diarrhea 1-4 days.  Sometimes w/ fever, abdominal cramps is the last to go. If you cannot keep fluids then go to er for IV fluids.  Headache and chest pain probably due to force of vomiting. Pregnancy vomiting does not cause diarrhea (good to check that as well).

Gastroenteritis: This may be from an infection (more often viral than bacterial), parasite, or food poisoning . If the problem is minor, let it be.  If it is very bothersome, imodium (loperamide) may help. Be sure to get enough fluid and electrolytes to prevent dehydration. If problem persists beyond 3 days, gets worse, or associates with blood in stool, see doctor ASAP.

Gethim into hospital: He should be an in patient in the hospital on intravenous antibiotics and IV fluids.  Insist that he is seen by a pediatric infectioius disease specialist.

Cholestasis: Eventhough you have no galbladder you could still form stones in th bile ducts and give you symptoms ( it is rare ) or cholangitis. It may aslo be unrelated to biliary system and due to pancreas or stomach. Go to see your dr.

Has: the H pylori been treated? any history of screening colonoscopy. Any consumption of sea food? See a doctor for full evaluation

27 year old male. episodes of diarrhea for about 2 years now. no other issues like abdominal pain. i only eat once a day to try and not have these episodes while at work. i drink about 7-8 sodas per day and meals are definitely not the healthiest?

: You should see a GI doctor to find out why you are having this diarrhea and then to get it treated. You likely should decrease the sodas and work on getting your diet healthier. A nutritionist can help with this after the diarrhea is diagnosed and treated. So, see a GI doctor. Good luck to you!

I : I agree with your doctor. This incident does not necessarily mean you will get a vaginal or urinary tract infection. There is a possibility that harmful bacteria present in the diarrhea did not enter the vaginal or urinary tract. So like your doctor, i agree that you should wait for symptoms to occur. For example a UTI can cause burning with urination, frequency, lower abdominal pain, and even fever. While a vaginal bacteriainfection usually presents with a vaginal discharge with a foul odor and irritation. If any of the above occur please see your doctor.

i have had nausea and diarrhea for a month now.  had endoscopy, emptying test, stool, celiac tests.  all negative.  taking zofran (ondansetron) and imodium.  everything i eat goes right through.  what is next?

Test food allergy: Diarrhea, nausea and vomiting can sometimes be signs of food allergy or sensitivity.  Keep a diet diary for two weeks noting the foods eaten and the symptoms you experience. This can sometimes reveal an unrecognized allergy.  If you find a link then specific testing can be done to confirm the sensitivity.

is it safe to give my 3 1/2 yr old grandson gatorade? he has been vomiting and diarrhea for almost 24 hours. he will not drink pedialite.

Yes but: Generally speaking yes if he can drink it  pedialyte is better because it made for children and it comes on many forms including ice
