i have a terrible cough. i can't talk without having the urge to cough. im only coughing up a little music. what could it be?

Many things: Cough can be caused by many etiologies.  Some common ones include bronchitis or other upper respiratory infections, asthma, allergies with post nasal drip, or esophageal reflux disease.  Sometimes chronic cough's can be caused by whooping cough(pertussis) or fungal infections which can be seen in the area which you live.  Medications can also cause a cough.  Please see your doc for evaluation.

i have a terrible cough. starting to think its bronchitis. coughing up mucus. keeping me up at night. nothing is calming it at all, not even the meds?

Bronchitis: It sounds like you may have bronchitis. Make sure you stay well hydrated by drinking lots of water and avoiding caffeine, sugary drinks and alcohol. If you have high fevers and fatigue see a doctor right away since it could be pneumonia. If it persists even without fever you may need to see a doctor also.

Influenza: Sounds like influenza though could be bronchitis with other organism. See your Doctor to be sure it isn't something else.

Likely viral: Voice loss accompanied by cough likely due to viral illness causing inflammation of the vocal cords. Aka laryngitis.  Keep hydrated and rest voice as it will return.

Laryngitis: Laryngitis is swelling and irritation (inflammation) of the voice box (larynx). Laryngitis is usually associated with hoarseness or loss of voice. Treatment depends on the cause. If viral, resting the voice and yourself, and increasing fluids will help..If bacterial, do the same, but you may need an antibiotic as well.  Good luck.

i have a terrible cough, mostly when i get hot or talk a lot.  i don't really feel bad except after a coughing fit i feel exhausted, this started on saturday and has gotten worse each day... should i get checked or give it a few more days with my otc prod

i have a swollen tonsil and it's so painful that i am having trouble sleeping. i also have a cough and difficulty talking. do i need to see a doctor?

Yes: You need to be examined, have a strep test and possibly a mono test done, with possible prescription of antibiotics.

AT 20 YEARS: of age would be unusual for yo to be "coughing  up " infected lung tissue but you could have chronically infected sinuses! Suggest STRONGLY that you have an ENT (EAR NOSE THROAT) evaluation. Begin by telling your PCP (Primary Care Provider)

i have blood streaked mucus and sometimes even small spots of blood in it, that i cough up. i don't have a cold. what could be causing this?

Can be serious prob: There are many possibly causes including  but not limited to tuberculosis, pneumonia, or tumor. Also  other lung disease.  Thus this symptom needs immediate evaluation b/c the possible diagnosis could be dangerous.  Please make appoint with your doctor.
