Xray: You might want to get an xray of the foot just to be sure you didn't get a small fracture of any of the many bones of the top of your foot for peace of mind. Can you walk ok? If you're walking alright, you can probably bypass the ER and wait for Urgent Care tomorrow or even your own doctor on Monday. Best wishes, I hope it feels better soon!

It could be...: An arthritic lump of bone over a joint that also has a nerve running over it.  This could produce the sensations you describe.  See a podiatrist for details and a personalized exam.

Foot issues: Many issues here: likely ganglion cyst or dorsal osteophyte, hallux valgus, venous insufficiency, and neuropathy.

Soft tissue mass: You might have a soft tissue mass such as a lipoma which is a collection of fat.  Lipomas can be moved and can be found in the foot.

EXOSTOSES: (bony "bump"s) are very common on the foot ( the most common place is the heel (Heel "spur"

Many etiologies: Unlikely to be rheumatoid arthritis. More likely a clotting problem. If you are taking estrogen-progesterone birth control pill, then stop it for now. Get blood drawn for d dimer, CBC and diff, factor v leiden, prothrombin gene mutations, factors viii, xi, and lupus anticoagulant.

Depends: Many things can cause pain to the top of the foot. If no trauma, or overuse activity, then shoe irritation (laces too tight or shoe too tight) is common cause.   If better shoes, icing and anti inflammatories are not helpful, then an evaluation is recommended. Dr l.
