They are benign, and usually do not require removal unless their position or size interferes with a removable appliance, or speech.  A common location is on the tongue side of the lower jaw.  Your dentist can advise.

The : The bump on the gum is called an epulis and is a sign of a tooth abscess.  Antibiotics will help a little, but unfortunately will not cure your problem.  You will need to see a dentist and may need a root canal procedure performed..

Differential diagnosis includes, periapical abscess, fibroma, lipoma, or an inflammatory lesion.  Yes, you should be concerned, because you do not know what is the diagnosis.  See an ENT or an oral surgeon for lesions of the oral cavity.

No reason to worry: I'd recommend using BreathRx or some other mouth wash in the morning and before bed until it goes away completely.  Importantly - don't eat/drink anything except water after using the mouthwash at night as you don't want more food decaying in your mouth while you sleep.

Making : Making a diagnosis of your problem over the internet, sight unseen, without a radiograph, is not prudent. It may be an abcess coming from an infection in yout tooth or from a periodontal pocket if that tooth has periodontal bone loss. Either way the tooth needs to be treated if it is sound, otherwise it will need to be extracted before the infection spreads and gets worse.
