Hi : Hi ron, you had your colonoscopy 7 seven years ago.  There can be changes over time to the colon.  The general surgeons i work with have indicated that  something significant can grow over a five year period, but many people get their second colonoscopy 10 years later. Although poor diet could lead to constipation which could exacerbate internal hemrrhoids, no one can say with certainty at this point that the bleeding is due to hemorrhoids.

Fairly safe procedur: Colonoscopy is a very safe and essential procedure , complications are rare but do occur, some bleeding is possible after biopsy .  All of the doctor are well trained , ask your pcp , or someone who had it to recommend you rather than walking into a place you do not know.Procedure can not cause cancer.

GI bleeding: Occult gastrointestinal bleeding (i.e. unknonwn source) is potentially serious, either because the actual cause of bleeding can be dangerous (e.g. cancer) or because slow bleeding can become sudden and even life threatening. The risk of dying from whatever is the cause of this problem is far higher than from the colonoscopy. Follow your doctor&#x27;s advice!
