Maybe.: There is no better stimulant for your immune system than actually having a disease.  The vaccine is not contraindicated. But the additional benefit of having a vaccination after the disease is not defined.  I would probably wait about ten years.

NOT MUCH: Pray you won't get MRSA and you can't get shingles from somebody else, it is in your body if you had chicken pox.

Shingles: Yes and No.  Shingles is often brought on by stress and or other situations that lower one's immunity temporarily such as concurrent illness, fatigue, poor nutrition. But, sometimes it just occurs. There is a shingle vaccine. Let's hope once he is healed he will take the vaccine so that this does not happen again.

Unilateral: Shingles travels along a nerve and only on one side of your body so you can't  have them.

Shingles pain: Not aware of a natural approac. Try 800mg Ibuprofen three times a day and if not helping within a week you need to ask your doctor for stronger pain meds. Shingles pain can be terrible and medical treatment can help most patients.

7 to 21 days: Most of us have already had varicella (chicken pox) or been immunized, so we are immune. "Last day or first"  is not an issue. If you were in the same room, especially face- to -face, for over 15 minutes you may have sustained significant exposure. Yes: The shingles lesions carry the chickenpox virus. He should keep the area covered and protect you from the lesions. Check your chickenpox immune status. All the best.

In : In short, no.  The virus that causes chicken pox and shingles (varicella) can only be spread from direct contact with the infected person either by touching a chicken pox or shingles sore or by the infected person coughing or sneezing on someone who has never had the disease.

We do have a vaccine available and it became a required immunization for public school attendance in the early 2000's.  Your friend's brother (if he is older than 1) may have been vaccinated and may have immunity to the chicken pox.  If not, he should get the vaccine to prevent him from catching chicken pox in the future.

Yes: But please remember, you do not catch shingles from a shingles patient.  They are shedding the chicken pox virus.  The result would be your child catching pox with signs at about 6-10 days.

Shingles prevention: Unfortunately, 'yes', although the Zostavax (Shingles vaccine) is designed to prevent shingles, it is not 100%.  This is true particularly with older folks -over time they become less and less able to respond well to the vaccine.  Plus, if you factor in other 'hits' to someone's immune system, they can really become weak and cannot defend against this nasty virus. Hope u can see a doc 4 more help.
