what would happen if the tdap vaccine was accidentally given in a blood vessel? had shot two days ago - would i be sick by now?

If anything did: It is hard to conceive of where in the shoulder you could find a blood vessel large enough to thread with a needle &amp; push in the shot. They are just not there to allow it. If you were allergic to any component of the vaccine, the bad ones start to show up within the hour.

Tdap injection: The deltoid muscle is the site of injection for Tdap and most other vaccines in adults. That area is chosen because there are no major veins or arteries in the vicinity. It should have been relatively obvious to the person injecting the shot if they hit a vein or not - so I really doubt this happened. Vaccines may make you feel mildly unwell -because they're stimulating your immune system to fight

Swollen arm: Put cold compresses on her arm for20-30 minutes several times a day to reduce the swelling.

Normal reaction : Need to see your md  if headaches are more than 5-7 days and waking you up at night  and  not releived by pain medications.

Yes: Yes, this is no problem.  I would also request your record from your birth hospital, you should be able to confirm definitively from the record whether you received the vaccine or not at that time.

Local reaction: Local reaction at the site of Tdap injection is not unusual, usually redness swelling, warmth and pain. Headache, low grade fever or tiredness sometimes occur. This is usually self resolving.  Take care

YES: You can have local pain in the arm were the vaccine was given and also a low grade fevers for a few days. All those symptoms seem normal, typically resolve in a day or two.

: There is no need to dump your breast milk because of Tdap, you should continue breastfeeding because there is no live virus.

No: Our instincts suggest your immune system may react more vigorously and give you a more tender arm but recent studies suggest that is not the case. Thus, while not needed, the upshot is getting two doses of tdap is not harmful not even more painful--just unnecessary.
