so, when i place my hand on my chest to feel my heart beat how fast should i feel it pumping? i dont mean i feel my heart beat in my fingers, like i touch my chest and i can feel it, like when you use a stethoscope to hear. i just want to clarify?

: Average heart rates are 60-100 beats per minute. Some folks are a little slower and others are a little faster. The heart rate is affected by medications, hydration level, stress, and exercise. If you are concerned about your heart for some reason, then consider an evaluation.

Evaluation: Elevated heart rates can cause uncomfortable sensations in the chest. This should be evaluated with a cardiac monitor, an echocardiogram and, depending on your risk factors, possibly a stress test. You are young to have coronary disease, but i worry about someone with symptoms like this at a high heart rate.

See a doctor--card: Fast heart rates that  are producing uncomortable symptoms  should undergo an evaluation.  This might involve patient activated monitoring (to assess the rhythm), as well as structural/functional assessment of the heart.  A structurally normal heart should provide some reassurance.  Treatment options can then be discussed.  General health/medical conditions including lung and thyroid eval.

PVC: The heart has a pacemaker (PM) or internal clock in the upper chambers (atria) that sends a signal to the lower  chambers (ventricles) which is delayed so that the ventricles contract after the atria. Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) can occur spontaneously or be triggered by adrenaline or drugs and are always followed by a compensatory pause to return the heart to its previous rhythm.

Palpitations: What you are feeling sounds like it could be heart palpitations.  If you are not having any symptoms with them then it is most likely not serious.  I would recommend that you get in to get evaluated for any abnormality in things like thyroid, or minerals (potassium and magnesium).  A heart monitor could also be placed to try and determine exactly what is going on.  If you have symptoms, get it!

Should see your MD: Given your age, less likely coronary art. Disease, but you may have an abn heart rhythm, which can cause these symptoms. May be your thyroid also, but there are several other possibilities, including muscle injury. Given the possibilities, you ought to be seen by a physician. Poss tests: ekg, chest xr, thyroid blood test, p'haps stress test, echocardiogram.

Possibly: Anxiety can cause excess cortisol, os adrenaline secretion which can cause a number of symptoms, including dizziness, lightheadedness, rapid heart beat palpitations, chestpain, headaches, etc.  Try calming yourself down by concentrating on slowing down your breathing over a few minutes if this doesn't help, see your primary provider for further evaluation.
