i have pain in my upper back on the right side. could there be something seriously wrong? what serious conditions?

Many things - possib: Possibly serious.  Heart/lung/musculoskeletal are most common.  Can you breathe deeply and comfortably?  Any nausea or shortness of breath?  See a doctor right away.

i did 30 minutes of cardio and now have pain radiating in my upper back on the right side.  i don't regularly exercise.  is this normal?  i'm 30.

No, not normal: "cardio" is a very non-specific term for exercise that gets your heart rate elevated for therapeutic benefit. Not knowing what specific exercise you were doing is somewhat limiting. None the less the pain you describe does not sound  like a normal consequence of  exercise. It may be something as simple as a strained muscle but if persist recommend seeing your doctor.

i have a cracking in my upper back.i stretch alot(backbends, ect.)i have stopped doing so due to this.i have no pain.could there be permanent damage?

Not likely: Popping within the joints is most likely caused by cavitation within the joint. This is when small cavities of partial vacuum form in the synovial fluid and then rapidly collapse, producing a sharp sound. This does not damage the joint, just equalizes pressure.

Exercise: Counter-intutive as it may seem, exercise is likely to help. Begin with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity so that you sweat profusely. It may take a few months for the full effect.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk prodFor good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine

Doesn't sound normal: A primary care doctor can evaluate to see why such symptoms are occuring, and my refer to a G.I. Specialist to further check the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, etc...  Sounds like the throat, esophagus, and stomach are extra sensitive lately.  If there are other swallowing or throat symptoms, an ENT specialist might also evaluate.

: You can feel your heartbeat in various places on your body since there are blood vessels everywhere. Sometimes, especially in very thin people, the blood vessels are closer to muscles, nerves, etc. with less fat to insulate them so heart beat sensations are felt. Good luck to you!

Several poss. causes: Some causes are more serious than others, but usually, if the pain is sharp, it indicates a musculoskeletal problem. Such back pain can be caused by malfunctioning vertebrae or ribs, spasms, or pinched nerves. A good history & physical exam, including an osteopathic hands-on exam can often find such problems which can be easily correct by manipulation.

See Your PCP: Pain in the back after eating suggests a GI cause of this.  Could be GERD (Reflux Dz), Stomach/Duodenal Ulcer, Pancreatitis, Liver Dysfunction of even Gallbladder issues.  If those are all ruled out, then maybe get a Thoracic Spine MRI to rule out spinal disc pathology.

Any cause?: Can you think of anything you've done recently that may have pulled or irritated/overworked some of the muscles in your back/left ribcage?How long has it been doing this?How often are the spasms?If going on several days with no relief with ibuprofen or naproxen and/or application of heat consider seeing your primary doctor to discuss muscle relaxing meds and/Or PT if it has been going on awhile.
