Clean: Most important thing is to adequately clean and irrigate out the laceration. Do not use hydrogen peroxide as at full strength can damage tissues. Can clean wound with 1/2 strength peroxide if necessary, anti-biotic ointment would be appropriate. Clean dressing is very important, changed daily.

Can only Improve: You cannot "erase" scars.  Poor scars can be improved through the following methods:

1) scar massage
2) silicone sheeting (a kind of silicone tape you where over the scar)
3) steroid injections
4) laser treatment (helps remove coloring)
5) scar revision (removing the scar and starting over).


Consult with a plastic surgeon to find out which combination of these would best work for you.

A doctor should look: at this promptly. If you have already seen a doctor about it I suggest contacting their office for instructions. If you have not seen a doctor, it sounds like now is good time to have it checked. You may need to have the wound cleaned out and dressed by a professional, or you may need other medical treatment. Also, if you have not had a tetanus vaccine in the last 6 years, it's time. Take care!

Nerve damage.: You had ab emergency visit and they did what they had to.
The only way to detect nerve damage is by seeing what's going on now. 
You have to go back for follow up and have doctors check to see if you are going to need surgery to "connect" some nerves.

Press on the wound: For a cut in the kitchen, the wound is usually not very dirty. However, there still are germs. Immediately after the cut, one can use the hand soap by the sink to briefly wash the forearm, wrist, and hand that is injured. Then grab a clean cloth towel and cover the wound. Press firmly through the clean towel, onto the wound, and don't let go until about 20 minutes later. The E.R. Doctor can check.

Stresses of childhood and teenage years most likely gave you emotional pain and hurt, and deprived you of love which led to depression and  cutting wrists.
Do not feel embarrassed. 
Accept yourself 
respect yourself, and set goals to improve your self-esteem. 
See a therapist  to understand stresses, resolve painful feelings, and develop coping skills to accept scars.

what struck my attention that you are 20 years old with history of hypertension, and that is odd
you need to see a doctor to find out why you are hypertensive because that could explain why you are depressed.

Clean cloth: And local pressure for ten to twenty minutes.
That will generally stop venous and even most arterial bleeding!

If spurting, go to emergency!
The major vessels are on the palm side.

i got my wrist cut. doctors said i was lucky that i didn't cut an important tendon, but i did cut one. so they just stitched me up. is it normal?

Sometimes: There are some tendons that do not add anything to function and 1 that many people do not even have, so it is not important to repair them and create a prolonged recovery.  Also, for a slight nick a repair is often not needed.  It might be a good idea to find out for sure from the er records and review the findings with your family doctor, who could refer you to a specialist if necessary.

No: You may have a nerve laceration and should see a hand surgeon. If it needs repair it should be done soon.
