i break my fibula so i have a walking cast and friday the doctor re going  to get off so i want to know if i can walk normal?

Accepted Answer

In time: Assuming the break was clean and that healing is complete, you should be able to gradually get back to a normal walking pattern. Your muscles and joints will be stiff but will stretch back out with walking and returning to your day-to-day activities. If you are having difficulty, a short course of physical therapy may get you back on track.

fractured my fibula, got orif surgery, got cast off yesterday, given a boot, doc said its fine to bear weight & walk but i'm struggling is this normal?

Struggling: Yes, if indeed you just go out of the cast yesterday, then by all means it is ok. Since I am not treating physician, follow his orders or call him of it gets worse.

i fractured my ankle i think it is fibula almost six weeks ago  still in cast but when i walk it swell's bad and hurts to the point i have to lay and elevate is this normal? also it hurts worse on the other side of ankle wise than fractured side?

: If your healing process is not proceeding as planned, it is appropriate to contact your orthopedic surgeon and get this re-evaluated.  In some cases Complex Regional Pain Syndrome may interfere with recovery, and if this is present, you need diagnosis and intervention ASAP.  Hope this can be reversed readily.

i had 4 metatarsals fractured, i wore a cast 4 weeks. now its removed and the doctor told its healed. is it normal i have pain, so cant walk properly?

Yes : it is normal to hurt for upto 12 wks

Is there friction: between your cast and  your ankle?  If yes, let your provider know.

i have a non displaced fracture in lower fibula, my doctor asked to weight bear after 2 1/2 weeks of injury with crutches, how much should i walk?

Ask you Doctor.: This should have been asked and answered during your last visit to the doctor. Using your crutches in a partial- weight bearing mode makes sense.

Fibula fracture: Does not sound like the fracture is healed yet. Suggest a boot for protection and get a second opinion.

i'm in an air cast and my doctor said i can put pressure and walk on it.  should i try to stay off it as much as possible or is pressure recommended?

As tolerated: If you're physician stated that the air cast is supportive enough to stabilize your foot fracture while bearing weight, then you can bear weight as tolerated.  Hope that helps.

T res: You can start to walk but go easy for a good recovering.
