can one get brain fog with only minimal hypertrophy of inferior turbinates and no mucosal thickening on ct-pns?
i don't have any anxiety or depression. i get normal sleep. but i frequently yawn during the day alongwith head heaviness. what to do?

No...but: The CT results from a sinus study  are consistent with a minor cold or allergies. They don't change how your brain works. However. a cold or allergies may trigger "brain fog" in some whether they have such changes or not.

29/m, 72 kg. i have mild hypertrophy of inferior turbinates on ct-pns, sinuses are clear.i wake up with dry mouth, have brain fog all day. its been almost 10 years with these symptoms. if i dont take pseudoephedrine, i can't concentrate or study. hlp?

Nasal congestion?: You probably have chronic rhinitis that causes nasal congestion. You are probably a chronic mouth breather hence the dry mouth in the morning. Yo7 need to see an ENT surgeon to prescribe you more effective treatment such as Foixonase spray to treat the swelling of your conchae or turbinates

Possible: Definitely ruling out sleep apnea might help. The circumstances in which symptoms started 10 years ago would be also critical in further investigating your current symptoms.

Blocked nose: Enlarged turbinate reduces airflow but may also block sinus drainage making you more prone to get sinusitis. If the nasal opening is less than 50% block, you may or may not need treatment if there are no other complications.

Yes: If the turbinates are reduced excessively, this may lead to what is called empty nose syndrome which causes crusting and nose irritation- a condition which cannot be corrected and likely more miserable than a stuffy nose. If you have allergies, ablation provides only temporary relief - you should consult an allergist instead for a medical solution.  Surgery should be the last resort.

No: food allergy isn't usually a cause of turbinate hypertrophy, allergy to inhalants, pollens and dust mites for example, would lead to turbinate hypertrophy though, stopping nasal steroids can lead to recurrence of allergy symptoms, need to follow up with an allergist / ENT doctor, good luck

Turbinates: No permanent treatment. First see ENT for exam and diagnosis. Can be treated with corticosteroid sprays and antihistamines if allergic in nature. Surgery can be performed with coblator, sub mucous resection, bipolar cautery,   debridement with powered instrument, excision, etc.

Large turbinates: Turbinate hypertrophy is a common cause of chronic nasal congestion and is often associate with allergy.  Initial treatment for allergies should include nasal corticosteroid spray.  For those who do not improve, turbinate surgery can be considered.  Reduction cautery or coblation procedures can be performed in the office often times.  Anesthesia is required when removing a portion of the turbinate

Inferior: Nasal turbinate, rather, I am not aware of a posterior turbinate. At any rate, your ENT surgeon would be the best to answer this question, trial of intranasal steroids might be of help, more helpful though is to know why your turbinates are enlarged? is it allergies, or some other cause, usually inferior turbinates aren't removed surgically, middle turbinates, may be. Again ask your ENT doctor,
