A tough problem: Cartilage piercings can be very problematic. Sometimes when the piercing gets infected it can lead to hypertrophic scarring. Other factors such as genetics can come into play. The best way to manage it is to remove the earring and begin scar massaging. Over time it should improve. This will sometimes benefit from a steroid injection or may require scar revision. It will never disappear completely.

Keloid: You may be more prone to abnormal scarring and i would not recommend repiercing  the area. Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it.

Yes: Scars can be treated with both creams and injectable medicine. I would see your dermatologist or ophthalmologist( for scars near the eye)  for further evaluation and recommendations.

Potentially: Laser may be helpful to reduce the overall size of the scar and potentially help with your symptoms if they are from mechanical pressure from the scar on the nerve.  It may also help by improving the blood flow to the area.

No: Hypertrophic scarring after laser resurfacing is due to the laser energy penetrating too deeply into the skin. Laser treatment is just a controlled burn injury: a superficial burn does not cause scarring, but usually causes some change in pigmentation, a deeper burn will cause a variable degree of scarring, some people have a tendency toward hypertrophic scarring.

Scars: The rawness of the skin will fade over several years the scar the is left with a skin Coke to it. You an try antibiotic ointment to help lessen the scar. Helps a little. You can see a plastic surgeon the make the scar less. But really once the skin is interrupted you will be scared

Stuck in healing : The hypertrophic scar gets stuck in an inflammatory stage of  healing.  This stage is characterized by red, raised, itching, painful scars.  Steroid injections calm the inflammation.  Silicone gel sheeting can also be beneficial.  Occasional the scars have to be excised or revised.  Hope that helps.
