Liver lesions: Liver lesions or "spots" are very common and most of the time are not something to worry about.  Many lesions can be safely characterized and watching via imaging studies such as CT scans and ultrasound.  Rarely, biopsy of a liver lesion is indicated.

Is this new lesion?: Benign tumors /neoplasms of the liver are not cancerous; malignant tumors are.  See prior answer regarding differential for benign ones. Malignant tumors include: fibrolamellar carcinoma, hepatoblastoma, cholangiocarcinoma, cystadenocarcinoma, angiosarcoma, undifferentiated sarcomas, epitheliod endothelioma. Metastatic liver tumors originate elsewhere (frequently from stomach, breast, lung, colon)

a ct found a 35mm hypodensity, demonstrating some peripheral enhancement that may reflect a cavernous hemangioma.  also, a smaller hyperenhancing mass that may reflect a flash filling cavernous hemangioma.  are these benign?

Cavernous hemangioma: Is a benign vascular tumor made of a collection of dilated blood vessels. Hemangiomas can cause local complications and need long term surveillance.

: I agree that posterior pituitary tumors or adenomas are rare. Your ordering physician should review the images with the interpreting radiologist to get a complete analysis and a differential diagnosis to determine what other possibilities could be present and whether consulting a neurosurgeon for an opinion is advisable.

from my recent abdominal mri report for liver mass. what does this mean? along the inferior margin of segment 3, there is a mildly t2 hyperintense and hypoenhancing focus measuring up to 1.2 cm; mild rim enhancement is noted in the delayed phase?

: It isn't possible to accurately interpret this without clinical correlation -- symptoms, the nature of the liver mass, and so on. Imaging or pathology reports are written for the requesting physician and other radiologists, not the patient. It's best for patients to go to the bottom of the report:  look for "Interpretation", "Conclusion" or similar terminology. And always discuss w/ the doctor.

mri of abdomen (liver) the liver is normal in size and contour. there is no evidence of hepatic steatosis. punctate hypoenhancing foci are seen in the hepatic dome (18/56), incompletely characterized. hepatic/portal veins patent. is this normal?

: You are quite young so I wonder why you had the MRI of the liver done. Even a radiologist needs a clinical clue (the reason why MRI was ordered) when reading the MRI so if the radiologist did not find any suspected lesion, you should not worry much. I, of course, can't tell you much with this non-specific finding but I doubt its significance.
