what are  hunner ulcers and is this serious if i have them?

Seen in PBS or IC: Hunner's ulcers can be found in a subset of patients who suffer from "interstitial cystits" (ic), or more accurately painful bladder syndrome (pbs). During a procedure called cystoscopic hydrodistension, where the bladder is filled with water and viewed with a camera, some ic/pbs patients will show these characteristic lesions. The ulcers themselves are not serious, and are usually cauterized.

Not fatal: Hunner's ulcers are seen in 10-20% of interstitial cystitis cases. These are a sign of the disease, but are not fatal

Yes=i.c.: Hunner's ulcers is the eponym for interstitial cystitis.
I.C. is a symptom complex  and a diagnosis of exclusion where you may have urinary urgency and pelvic pain in the absence of other physical findings. On cystoscopy, the urologist may see "ulcerations" or glomerulations. HOwever, these may not be true ulcerations and a biopsy can be negative, Mast cells, immune cells are sometimes implicated.

Rarely TB, yersinia or lymphoma.

Mouth ulcers usually are from trauma or herpetic virus.

Treating Ulcers: That would depend on what kind and what caused the ulcer. Many ulcers are in fact caused by an infection with helicobacter pylori or "h. Pylori". This treatment would include antibiotics.

Long time, can recur: Ulcers of stomach, duodenum can be recurrent, can be chronic.  Commonest causes are from infection with h. Pylori bacteria, use of Aspirin or nsaids, and several other rarer causes.  C
an come and go, unless cause is treated.  Stomach ulcers need to followed to complete healing because about 3=5% of stomach ulcers are ulcerated cancers (not benign ulcers turning into cancer)

No inflow: Venous stasis is caused by valve problems that allow blood from deep high-pressure veins to enter low-pressure veins just under the skin. These veins enlarge, letting fluid through the walls (swelling), letting blood through (discoloration) and finally having so much back pressure that nutritious arterial blood cannot enter an area of the skin resulting in ulcers. It is treated by laser ablation.

Yes: You need to eliminate the cause of the ulcer, which is usually a result of pressure and/or lack of blood flow, edema.

Biopsy: If they are biopsied for sign of cancer or infection those issues can be addressed. If uninfected & not malignant, acid suppression therapy & diet can be instituted. Consult with a medical practitioner.
