Treatment objectives include slowing or reversing the progression of liver disease, preventing superimposed insults to the liver (alcohol cessation), preventing and treating any complications, and determining the appropriateness and best timing for liver transplantation.

Yes: Cholestyramine is an effective, safe and non-addictive remedy.

Manage it: This is worrisome and while this doesn't qualify as any kind of cirrhosis, you could end up with it. I trust hepatitis c, Wilson's, and a few others have been ruled out. Stay trim and fit and ask about meds.

: Cirrhosis is an advanced stage of scarring from inflammation due t hepatitis including Hep B. It could be slowed down with some improvement  with medications available to treat. It is important to not drink alcohol or take medication that could add damage to the liver. It is also recommended that she be vaccinated with Hep A vaccine and I hope other family member could get both Hep A and B vaccine

what is the safest drug to treat opiate addiction if you suffer from severe liver cirrhosis?

Detox slowly: The safest way is just a very slow taper of the opiate, ie just reduce the dose by 10% every third or fourth day...Example go from ten oxy a day to nine and then keep at that level for 4 days then go to 8 and so on.  Most people can cut their consumption in half but then run into a plateau.  At that point, some Clonidine and some xanax (alprazolam) can some things out.  Big problem is not getting hooked oxana.

: Early fibrosis does not inevitably lead to cirrhosis. It could remain stable or reverse with time depending on the cause and general health status of the person.

my brother had a cbd obstruction caused by a gallstone so after several tests and 25 days later, he went ahead with ercp and got it treated. will his liver recover from the damage or will this lead to liver cirrhosis in the future?

: If obstruction fully relieved and does not recur liver should eventually heal itself without any residual damage.  However, will need follow up care to ensure this does not happen again and to determine why this happened in the first place

Sleep Hygiene: Good sleep hygiene.. There are a lot of meds to help you sleep even if had hep. C.

can choledocolithiasis cause liver cirrhosis? the patient got treated within 15 days with ercp. his lfts are now normal with no jaundice. can he still develop cirrhosis of the liver?

: Probably not from gallstones now.  Has he been diagnosed/treated for hepatitis ever?  This increases risk of cirrhosis, discuss with his team.
