does it bleed in teeth's root canal treatment? i m asking since i take some blood thinner medicine regularly for some other disease and i can't stop my blood thinner. my pt/inr is approx 2.5, do i need to worry for bleeding while root canal treatment?

: The short answer is no!  I also take blood thinners and as a dentist i would not be concerned in having a root canal treatment procedure.

ER: If it hasn't stopped by the time you read this, go to the ER. You may need a stitch. Your INR may be too high. Both can be checked there.

: Somewhat typical for all blood thinners in general, it is rather superficial bleeding, most of the time self contained, talk to your prescriber in case change in pattern or unexplained bruising.

i take coumadin (warfarin) and my gums are bleeding a little could this be caused by the blood thinner and what should i do?

Possible: Much gum bleeding is poor periodontal attention, flossing, brushing, dental hygiene etc may solve this.
If coumadin/warfarin is raising inr out of bound desired, some spontaneous or traumatic bleeding can occur.
Check inr and talk to controlling md or clinic.

complicated: You do not mention why you're taking a blood thinner but, if there isn't a strong indication, you should avoid it because cirrhosis interferes with coagulation and bleeding, even from piles, can cause anemia. Regarding your dose, only your personal doctor can advise you.

i had a bleeding ulcer. severe. it was corrected twice. now it's 5 weeks later. is cranberry juice safe to drink or is it a blood thinner.

Cranberry juice: Cranberry juice is safe in context of peptic ulcer.  It is not a blood thinner.  Is a very good beverage.  Stay on your anti ulcer therapies, eat small amounts, maintain nutrition, avoid smoking and alcohol, avoid aspirin and NSAIDS.

Filter: It does appear that anticoagulant therapy would be risky in this situation. An alternative is to insert an IVC filter to prevent the blood clot from traveling from the leg to the lungs. Of course the attending physicians ,who know all the findings, are best qualified to give advice in this case.

See your doc: See your doc or nurse that manages your blood thinners.  A tongue will stop bleeding on its own usually.  Your blood may be too thin and can be dangerous.  
A tea bag can help, as well as direct pressure with gauze, but i can't stress enough to see your doc.
