Could be: For a very specific type of hypertension spironolactone would be more or less the "drug of choice".  Generally it is not the mainstay of hypertensive management.  Other diuretics such as hydrochlorothizide or Chlorthalidone are used.  Spironolactone is usually used for the treatment of congestive heart failure and cirrhosis.  It can cause high potassium levels.  In conn's disease it would be good.

JNC 8 guidelines: The new guidelines recommend blood pressure below 140/90 if patient is younger than 60 years old, has diabetes, or has chronic kidney disease. Definitely talk to your doctor about the optimal blood pressure management.

Caffiene/BP: Caffeine intake can lead to dramatic but short lived rise in bp.  It's unclear what causes this spike. Caffeine causes a transient stiffening of the arteries.  It could block a hormone that helps dilate arteries . Some proposed caffeine causes the adrenal glands to release more adrenaline. 
Try limiting caffeine to 200mg/d. About 12oz cups of brewed coffee. Avoid caffeine before strenuous activity.

Ask again: From the very abbreviated question, the best answer is that it's not at all likely for elevated BP to be the only or most noticed symptom of depression. You may want to think a bit and ask again or see a psychotherapist for a good eval. There ae sites online that list the key warnings for depression Dx. Best!

See your doctor: You should get your kidneys checked and also have your doctor review your medications to make sure there are no drug interactions contributing to this change. You might also want to make sure you are getting accurate readings from your home BP monitoring device.

Lifestyle changes: Have you made any lifestyle changes yet? Things like weight loss and exercise can bring it down to normal. How are you checking your blood pressure? Sometimes the machine may be wrong too. If you haven't seen your doctor in a few years you probably should get a check up.

ER: Vertigo not usually do slight drop in blood pressure. May need ENT evaluation.
