Caffiene/BP: Caffeine intake can lead to dramatic but short lived rise in bp. It's unclear what causes this spike. Caffeine causes a transient stiffening of the arteries. It could block a hormone that helps dilate arteries . Some proposed caffeine causes the adrenal glands to release more adrenaline. Try limiting caffeine to 200mg/d. About 12oz cups of brewed coffee. Avoid caffeine before strenuous activity.
