CALL YOUR OB: As your OB knows you and what happened at the time of delivery , u need to be evaluated by your doc to make sure no problems form the c-section and no elevated BP after delivery and it depends how far post delivery u are and how much everything is swollen so your doc needs to examine u, so call your doc now, post partum is included in your delivery care and your doc needs to take care of it.

Slowly, deliberately: Like any other abdominal surgery, cesarean section requires >3-6 weeks of recovery time before engaging in any exercise regimen. Diet and exercise are always recommended for weight loss (in that order). If you breastfeed, you will likely shed the extra weight more quickly, although diet and lactation do not mix well (may decrease your milk production). Swimming, treadmill and stationary bike work!

my left side under the ribs pains and tender to touch. abdominal scan and chest x ray came back clear. just gave birth through c section a month ago. the pain started at 7 weeks pregnant and has gotten worse after delivery. what could be causing this?

Strain: The muscles and tendons may be inflamed. If there was no direct trauma to the ribs, a fracture is not as likely. Apply local heat and use NSAIDs to treat pain.  If there is any cough, fever or shortness of breath, please see your provider.

Exercise: You will need to exercise to achieve a flat stomach after having a baby.  Once you have been cleared by your doctor/midwife you should start a regular program.  It is not necessary to focus only on your abdominal muscles.  Once you are finished breast feeding, start a lower calorie diet if you haven't returned to your prepregnancy weight.  Persistance and time will help you get your body back.

Probably not: Most ob/gyns do not perform cosmetic surgical procedures, and you will probably need to see a plastic surgeon if you are concerned, and if exercise doesn't help with the situation.

i am  o+, very active, going to gym for 5days a week and on the road on saturday running. i did 2 c section. my belly doesn't want to make abs. due to hernia i can't do stomach exercises and i get bloated. what can i use to reduce bloating?

Probably can't: In general muscle tone is quite easy with moderate exercise it increases significantly in only 2 weeks. BUT, the muscles have to be in the right area for this to ocur and if they are not fully attached and have holes between them, tone won't fix it. Surgery is not that easy. If you are heavier than previously (and who isn't?) then the gaps are pulled open. There isn't any easy answer on this.

Remember: Spot reduction without a more invasive intervention or even surgery isn't really possible.  Exercise is good but you'll have to combine with caloric restriction as the two together are really necessarily for weight loss.  Weight loss will be key for your "tummy".  Your rings not fitting suggest that something else is going on, like a source of swelling.  This you should see your doc about.

Yes ,can be done: First reach the ideal weight goal , tune up your body  ( and possibly this is lost C section ! )  See trained plastic surgeon and you will be happy with out come ( results )

Tummy: A bulge in stomach after abdominal surgery or pregnancy could be from splitting the muscles during the procedure ( and the muscles weren't sewn back together), a hernia at the umbilicus or fatty tissue from the break in exercise... See your doctor for an exam to determine which you are dealing with and options to solve it....

Nope: Crunch away...it will help you tone.  Don't forget your other core muscles as well.
