Gerd this severe should be assessed by your doc and controlled with medications such as Omeprazole in addition to the standard gerd precautions.

You are worried for no reason at all. Simply treat your acid reflux with antacids and do not imagine things which are unreal.

Wheezing: You may be describing wheezing or audible respiratory noise generally heard in airway constriction. Bronchospasms or spastic narrowing of airway may be a result of recurring aspiration of gastric aspirate. ( breathing stomach contents) please discuss with physician.

If progressive...: Exposure of the vocal cords to stomach acid &amp; pepsin may result in inflammation of the vocal cords (as is also often seen with acid regurgitation). Acute laryngitis may result, but watch out for chronic hoarseness, throat clearing, airway spasms, bronchitis, an asthma-type presentation, and even a higher risk of throat cancer. Impedance ph testing with a symptom diary can best characterize LPR.

Diet and lifestyle : For my patients i advise the following: avoid, any of the following: acidic foods, dairy, chocalate, mint, caffeine, spicy foods. At least for the next couple of weeks. Sleep on a wedge pillow (chest above you stomach, but not so that your chin is to your chest). And avoid tight fitting clothes. One can also take the pill twice a day or a couple of weeks.
