Determine Cause: You'll need to see a dentist to determine the cause of your TMJ issues. Are you grinding or clenching? Are your teeth malpositioned? Did you traumatize the joint in any way? Is there a physical issue with the joint itself? Unless these potential causes are addressed, you may be needlessly suffering. Please call for an appointment.

See your doctor : You may need a Rabies Vaccine if the health status of the dog is unknown and may also need a tetanus shot. Your dr. May have prescribed antibiotics for 7-14 days. You can keep the wound clean and apply antibiotic ointment on it. Also, you can apply an ice pack on your face for 10- 15 min at a time to make the swelling go down. Follow up with your physician.

Ice pack: Ice it! if you passed out; feel an unusual weakness, are unable to speak or have anything else out of the ordinary, go to an er; if not some ice and tylenol (acetaminophen) should do the job.

Swelling: The time swelling takes to go down is an individual issue some people it disappears quicker and other people it takes longer but I would not worry about it

Swelling is tough : Treatment is by cause so that must first be determined.  Some are self limited orhers can be chronic. Some are annoying but some can be very dangerous.  Start with your pcp (primary care physician).

Cold compresses: As long as your child is alert and playful you can use cold packs for 20 minutes at a tome swelling should go down in a few days if seems drowsy take him tpo the e r.

Hard to say: Depends on how large the swelling is, and how the infection responds to that antibiotic.. You may need a different one. Did your physician or dentist prescribe the drug? If so, discuss it with them. If you are self medicating, then call one of your providers for an appointment.

Phone call: If you are infected from a rotten tooth or from periodontitis, you need to call a dentist to be seen. There is nothing, and i repeat nothing, that you can do yourself to treat that problem. Please make the call before the pain becomes unbearable. Go to the er if it becomes an emergency.
