Probably 2 weeks.: Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) not usually associated with much wt gain.  Assuming no other cause of wt gain, should be able to lose wt on Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) with right amount of exercise and calorie reduction.

Pristiq/weight: Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is usually weight neutral.  Weight gain on this med is unusual.  Every psychiatrist had seen unusual side effects with meds.  If i see a patient with weight gain on pristiq, (desvenlafaxine) there are ways to deal with it such as transferring to another med or adding something that  facilitates weight loss.  Keep on mind it could be residual depression symptoms causing gain.  Talk to prescriber soon!

Probably not.: It is very difficult to lose weight while taking an antidepressant other than wellbutrin (bupropion).

No: the maximum dose of mortar opine is 45 mg daily.  But the fact you are also taking Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) may decrease this maximum dose.  So do not increase without checking with your doctor,

Consider change: There is no evidence that anything over 100mg has more effectiveness in studies.  MDs will try higher dosages as tolerability allows as off label use.  I would consider adding a second medication depending on what residual symptoms recur, or try adding deplin.

Talk with the doctor: There are several newer antipsychotics that are thought to have less weight gain like lurasidone, asenapine, iloperidone and ziprasidone.  You may want to talk to the prescribing doctor to see if one is appropriate for you!

Please see doctor: This is quite a bit of weight to gain in one week.  Combined with swollen ankles, this makes me wonder how your heart and other things are doing.  This may not be related to Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) at all, but something else -- and this deserves a close review with your primary care physician.

Cymbalta, Pristiq (desvenlafaxine): Both medications are dual action antidepressants. At high dose Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) may be a triple action antidepressant.
Short term studies show little weight gain in both meds.
However individuals vary with regard to side effects as well as their response to a particular antidepressant.
Long term studies indicate that similar drugs can cause significant weight gain in susceptible individuals.
