So on average, if you consume 3000 kcal per day and burn 2500 kcal per day, you will gain 1 lb in 1 week (500 kcal excess per day).  The opposite is also true.  To gain 2 lbs, you would need to consume 7000 kcal greater than your expenditure.

Drinking at least 8  8 ounce glasses per day is important for both hydration and weight control. Try to get in whole foods (fiber) as well as 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day. Physical activity is essential. At least 8 hours of sleep per night helps.

My best advice is to use a diet that is balanced and avoids processed food, with a lower total calorie intake than what you typically take in while at the same time, increase your energy utilization.
