what to use to clean infected wisdom tooth extraction site?

Not your job: Don't clean the extractin site.  The healing tissue cannot be disturbed otherwise you will get a painful dry socket.  It most likely is not infected - even though you think it is, you do not know what to look for.  Only if the dentist determines there is infection in the area, then he will give you an antibiotic to take.  Do not make assumptions about what you see. - dentist needs to see.

I recommend 20 min: The point is to apply pressure on the wound long enough to stop any bleeding. If the bleeding has stopped, then you can remove the gauze but be ver gentle because you do not want to dislodge the clot.

Tooth extraction: I usually use an elevator and try to cause the least trauma so there is less post-op pain. Sometimes its nes. To section a tooth or use forcepts. It should be painless.  You may feels a lot of pressure and some crackling sounds are normal. We provide headphones to watch tv during the procedure to remove the sound.

Zero: Local anesthetics are given to numb the area completely and therefore you should not feel anything for the procedure. Nitrous Oxide\Oxygen or IV sedation is also available for the very anxious patient. Some soreness afterwards is to be expected which can be handled with an appropriate OTC or prescription pain medication.

One to two weeks: Normally it's about a week or so that the socket of the extracted tooth heals and closes as it fells up with blood that coagulate and turns into bone later, and the socket gets shallower as it heals.
If that blood clot got dislodged for amy reason , that can cause the socket not to heal.
The condition is very painful and known as dry socket.
See your dentist to get it treated.

Yes: A tooth extraction is very common and a dentist can probably address the incidence. I know that it is less common for young people today because dentists have found ways to protect teeth compared to people my age (58).
