Yes: You can do any activity that doesn't cause you pain, so regulate your own choice of activity.  Surgeons recommend repairing inguinal hernias if they are causing you discomfort.  Most surgeons limit you from activities like lifting and jumping rope for 6 weeks after a surgical repair.

: The mesh can be torn, but when this occurs it usually results in very significant pain.  If you have concerns, consult your surgeon for evaluation and advice.

it's week 14 of open surgery, mesh for inguinal hernia and i was wondering can i return to running and jump rope. also at this point should i be worried about getting a recurrent hernia from lifting weights, jumping, or sneezing?

Mesh &amp; hernia repair: Surgeons are obliged to provide post-operative advice to patients. Should be able to resume full activities 3 months after hernia surgery. Unusual to require mesh for open inguinal hernia surgery in young men as is designed more for use in minimally invasive laparoscopic repair. Combining mesh with open repair should provide an extra layer of suecurity. Feel safe.

will i  stop tranning or jumping high if i have a hernia?

Only in recovery: You may continue to train, lift weights, and generally carry on with a hernia, as long as there's not too much discomfort. However, once a repair has been done, there will be a period of time, 1-4 weeks based on technique, when you may not lift more than 10 pounds or participate in strenuous exercise. Good luck.

Avoid strenuous acti: Avoid any strenuous activity, lifting, exercising... It is possible for bowel to fall into the inguinal hernia and strangulate. Inguinal hernias need to be surgically repaired. See you surgeon.

finished chemo for stage iiia ovarian cancer in oct 2013.  ca125 was 8 6wks ago and 20 now have large right groin node.  is the ca125 jump a lot?  can incisional hernia cause lymph node to swell?

Seek medical exam: Your oncologist needs to know about this groin node if you have not yet told him.Since your ca 125 is still in the normal range, i would not draw any conclusions but your doctor needs to examine you and guide you. It is best not to follow your disease with ca125 right now as it will likely have such fluctuatiosns, causing you to be nervous and anxious, yet it does not help in making treatment decis.
