Accepted Answer

Yes (to an extent): Any surgery will cause post-operative pain.  There will also be discomfort with the therapy that is required after the procedure.  Different patients have different pain thresholds, but usually, the pain post-operatively isn't so bad (from the feedback i've gotten from my patients who have had the surgery).

Quadriceps strength: Work on quadriceps strength and thereby go into surgery with as strong quadriceps as possible. That will be the muscle group you will also focus on after surgery.

Typically not: In fact, after the initial injury, an acl tear does not usually cause much pain.  Instability is the main complaint with an isolated acl tear.

Yes: Acl tears that are partial typically heal adequately without surgery and rarely tear completely later. Complete tears never heal spontaneously but a rare person can function without reconstruction. Most require surgery to make a new ligament, as the only means to a "cure". Acupuncture, prolotherapy, herbals, organics, prp, therapy, etc never cure acl tears.

Yes: Displacement of the meniscus means to me tear, it is unlikely to tear acl from twisting action while stand.

6-12 weeks: An incomplete, but functional, acl tear usually takes approximately 6-12 weeks to heal.
A nonfunctional acl tear may require surgical reconstruction.

Surgery if: not able to return to desired level of play by 3 months. Graft type best discussed with operating doctor we all have our preferences.

Nothing: There is nothing that would "diffuse" a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (acl).  Acl is one of only few ligaments in our body that is entirely intra-articular which means it is not within soft tissues but is sitting inside the joint space with some surrounding joint fluid.  This atmosphere makes it impossible for the ACL to heal (which I am assuming what you meant by diffuse).

See ORS : If your acl graft rupture is isolated ( no meniscus injury, etc)your treatment may be nonoperative as long as the graft doesn't cause pain , catching or instability.See an experienced knee surgeon for examination and treatment alternatives .( revision acl reconstruction can always be done @ later date if your knee becomes more unstable).Best of luck!

ACL tear: For a partial tear, you would require physical therapy and time may heal the ligament.  If you don't take the time or care to rest you may create a full tear.
