Endocrineologist: If you are 39 and have no beard growth you may have a condition hypogonadism with low or no testosterone production. An endocrinologist can do a simple blood test to see where your levels are. If low testosterone replacement will give you beard growth

no magic: No magic answer, but shaving often can make your beard come in thicker over time, and thus make it come in a little faster...But as stated, this is  a process that occurs over time.  Best wishes.

: Shaving is a very good way to eliminate skin flakes; growing a beard eliminates this method of exfoliation.  Scrubbing with a washcloth won't eliminate the problem; you may consider a mild keratolytic like an acne topical preparation containing salicylic acid.  Be careful as too-frequent use can dry the skin and worsen this problem.

No: New hair after cutting hair may seem thicker and coarser.  That is because the "cut end" of the hair "feels" coarser.  The previous hair ends that were older, and softer-thinner by being "worn down" by friction of day-to-day life, have been cut away. The part of the hair that is outside the hair follicle is not alive, so cutting hair does not change what happens in the hair follicle in the skin.

Possibly ..: You might get some mild extra growth with testosterone supplement but not without possible significant risk to your health related to altering your body's natural hormone levels.  Just remember, for many people it's genetics that decide hair distribution.  You are better of learning to work with what you have. Save hormone supplementation for when it's really medically indicated.

Unlikely to happen: Stature (how tall you are) depends on growth centers in the bones. When these close, you are finished growing taller. This happens in most males between 16-17.You can have an x-ray of your wrist/hand where they can study the growth centers.If closed you are done. Facial hare is based on genetic and hormonal factors. You don't change these.

To be honest ...: There isn't any great means of making hair grow faster in a beard besides using prescription testosterone inappropriately - I would never recommend this.  Even the prescription hair growth/hair loss prevention medication Propecia doesn't appear to aid in beard growth.  Also, the over the counter rogaine (minoxidil) does not seem to reliable improve beard grow.  Make sure you healthy and nutritionally sound!

i have a mole or you can say birthmark of about 1-2 cm diameter. it is in my beard area. is it possible that i get it removed and my beard can still grow in that area?

: It should be possible to excise the mole and bring the skin together for your beard to appear natural. It would be prudent to consult a plastic surgeon.

Accepted Answer

No beard to scalp : The beard and scalp have completely different types of hair, and beard hair is not suitable for the scalp. Also, scars are left in the hair donor site. Even if the beard was a suitable donor site, you would not want to have these scars on the face. Donor hair should be taken from the back of the head where the hair density is sufficient. I use the Neograft technique, which leaves no linear scars.
