Possible eustachian: tube fluid ( serous otitis media ) or inflammation, usually viral in nature. If not hypertensive you can use OTC nasal decongestant ( generic Afrin/Dristan), antihistamine ( Benadryl, Claritin or Zyrtec), followed by nasal saline nasal lavage, Wait 10-15 minutes and if not alleric, use Flonase or NsaCort) - nasal steroid mist.  If these steps are unsuccessful after 1 week, see your physician.

Exam: Have your doctor exam your ears. What you are describing sounds like fluid in your middle ear or troubles with drainage from the middle ear. Is it possible that you may have injured your ear drum when you were trying to get the water out? A check up will help you with this problem. All the best.

for a while i would get a clogging sensation in my right ear on and off for weeks. today noticing if i touch my ear or pull on ear lobe it sounds like water is in my ear but it doesn't feel clogged. are there ways to drain eusthesian tube of fluid?

: If the fluid is in the eustachian tubes then using an antihistamine such as claritin or equivalent can be helpful. If the fluid is in the ear canal then putting Swimmers Ear drops (there are many products on the market) to dry out the fluid in the ear canal - a homemade version of half rubbing alcohol and half vinegar mix and using this for drops also works for the ear canal.

can i try the valsalva maneuver to try to get fluid out of my ear when i have a ruptured eardrum? i dont want to do any more damage but i hate this water trapped feeling inside my ear that is muffling my hearing. on meds/drops for a week. any advice?

: Valsalva maneuver is not likely to be helpful and may do harm by pushing additional material and bacteria into the middle ear. Keep up the treatment you have been prescribed.

Drain/displace: One simple method is to lay on either side alternately to let it drain. Another is to insert a highly concentrated alcohol that would displace water &amp; then evaporate. A gentile effort using an ear bud can pull out some.

Rubbing alcohol: With an eye dropper mix a solution of half rubbing alcohol and half clean water.  Drop or two in your ear, the alcohol will help evaporate the water.

Water in ear: Hello, I usually recommend a hair dryer on a low speed and heat setting be aimed into the ear canal. Use your opposite hand to reach over your head and then grab hold of the upper part of your outer ear and pull upwards. Hold the hair dryer in the same side hand and aim into your canal. This action allows for better air delivery into the canal. Works like a charm.
