Hernia ?'s: Hernias of all kinds are interruptions of anatomic barriers (stretching, allowing penetration of formerly enclosed material into other areas).  Barrier treatments ( trusses , etc.) do not "get rid" of the hernia, but may reduce symptoms.  Surgery is in most cases the only remedy to remove a hernia.

Not possible: Hernia is a defect ( hole) in muscle layer. It can only get worse with exercise, which people try to do to make muscles stronger to try to get rid of the hernia. Not all hernias need to b fixed but there is no other cure. Sorry.

No: The only way to get rid of a hiatal hernia is with surgery.  Losing weight may however help reduce or eliminate acid reflux, which often goes along with a hiatal hernia.

Need an exam: You cannot tell what you may have by symptoms alone, and a significant hiatal hernia would be unlikely at age 18. Need to see a doctor for an exam. May be acid reflux, gastritis, etc. Do not go by feelings or symptoms alone. Also see a doctor before a major change in an exersice program.

Maybe just heartburn: ...But atypical chest pain especially in middle aged women is nothing to ignore. The potential origins may include: heart, lungs, mediastinum, esophagus (due to dysmotility disorders, gastroparesis, biliary/pancreatic trouble, and/or non-acid reflux), musculoskeletal, pericardium (sac around the heart), pleuritis, bronchiitis, or referred pain from a remote site. Further evaluation is warranted.

Primary care doc: A pea-size ball is very unlikely to be a hernia.  A palpable lymph node would be more likely. That is the sort of thing that your primar care doctor could assess in relation to your other symptoms.

severe nausea last 3 days on and off. i have a hiatal hernia, esophagitis and ibs. i feel fine until i eat or drink something. its just constant nausea in my throat. i dont know how to get rid of it. would it be caused by any of those conditions?

: Nausea is rarely the lone symptoms of GERD and esophagitis. Nausea may be associated with IBS if you have severe constipation. If you are sexually active, pregnancy needs to be ruled out with a urine pregnancy test. Nausea could be the side effect of some common medications so I wonder if you are taking any new medication before that.

i have a hiatal hernia and esophagitis. my acid reflux always stays in my throat when i get a flare up. i take esomeprazole and antacids but i dont think the antacids are working anymore. how do i get rid of this feeling. makes me severely nauseous?

Surgery is an option: If you have a symptomatic hiatal hernia and the traditional medical treatments haven't been successful then surgery is worthwhile to consider. Discuss with your medical doctor if you are fit enough for general anesthesia and then meet with a surgeon who is well versed in laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair. The surgery can lead to a markedly improve quality of life, if the right doctor is seen.
