Denture stains: Dentures build up plaque and tartar just like natural teeth. Be sure to clean them daily. There are special toothpaste just for dentures. Also you may use some of the cleansing tablets that you soak the teeth in overnight. When you go to the dentist for a checkup, have them use their ultrasonic  machine to give them a good cleaning.

Dear : Dear coffee drinker: soaking dentures is nice, but it does not work nearly as well as brushing the dentures. Physical removal of plaque and stain is necessary. There are several companies which make special denture brushes and some even make special paste (you can easily use tooth paste). All these products are available in your local pharmacy. In addition, ask your dentist if he/she has a laboratory and a dental sand blaster. Most prosthodontists and some dentists, have "in house--on premisses" dental laboratories. They should have the proper equipment. They will be more than happy to "blast" the stains off your dentures and re-polish them. In my practice, my denture patients come in for periodic examination and cleaning and re-polishing of their dentures at least yearly. The dentures always look like new. At home i encourage them to brush the dentures and physically remove all deberis and stain and only then, soak them. Best of luck, dr. Zev kaufman.

Adaptation: It will take time to adjust to having the denture in your mouth.  It will take approximately 2 weeks to readapt your tongue to the denture.  You probably won't want to have your first meal be corn on the cob and steak.  You will need to cut your food into smaller pieces initially.  You may get some sores along the edge of the denture as swelling goes away and the denture settles.  Discuss with dr.

Adhesive?: By "gum", do you mean that sticky, gooey denture adhesive (glue)  you put inside the denture to make it less loose?  If you have to put lots of it, you may need a new denture, or at least a procedure called "reline" to fill in the gap with more sturdy material than the denture glue.  If the fit is fine but you want to know the best way to remove it, a special denture brush ; spray is the best.

Carefully: Chill the dentures in cold water. Then use a wooden stick -- popsicle, tongue depressor, cuticle pusher-- or something that will not cut or scratch the acrylic, to scrape the gum off. Good luck.

Depends: It depends on what you expect denture function is perhaps 20% of natural teeth. It also depends on how much jaw bone you have and finally how well made the dentures are. For better function consider implants.
