Operating room use: This is an older medication used in the operating room,  probably use very little in 2016. This would not be a medication for home use.

can i take metoclopramide to combat ketamine nausea?have ketalar prescribed but get nauseous,is it dangerous to mix the two?both are nmda agonists. ty

No interactions: A search of the literature reveals no reports of interactions between those two medications. However, both can cause sedation in  some people, so common sense would dictate to be careful using them at the same time. Good luck.

i have a script for 90 ketamine 20mg caps but can't seem to get them locally - any idea where i can get them, legally - in atlanta or on-line?

Good luck: The problem is that ketamine is a controlled substance. Many pharmacies (on a whim) choose not to fill patient's prescriptions if they are controlled substances. They are under enormous scrutiny from the DEA &amp; have quotas in some states on how many of their total scripts can be controlled. All of this is legal &amp; the DEA won't help. Try other areas or ask your doctor to call the pharmacy directly.

Michael Jackson died: Oral ketamine should never be prescribed.   It can cause sudden death.   A prescribed cream on your body works for some patients but do not eat the cream.

one of our players was prescribed topical ketamine 10% in a compounded cream. is possibility of  positive drug screen? if so , for how long?

Wow : It can only be found if specialized test for that are used.   Standard drug screens do not test for it.  However, this sounds very unusual... I strongly suggest a second opinion from a sports medicine orthopedic md.

hi, i'm 36 years old , i'm prescribed aderall xr 120, wellbutrin (bupropion) 225 mg and ketamine. i take creatine, would creatine and ketamine be tough on kidneys?

Yes.: Creatine can cause muscle damage and can overload your kidneys causing acute renal failure. I also think your Adderall is excessive along with your wellbutrin, (bupropion) both used for adhd and this medications taking at these doses for long periods of time could also damage your liver.Please go back to your pcp and get checked. Be careful.

can i get kidney stones and blater infection by using ketamine?

Forgive my frankness: Indeed you can. Ketamine metabolites turn into sludge in the kidney tubules and have provided the nephrology community with a new type of stone and a reason for obstructed kidneys. If you must use ketamine, drink plenty of water. You've read about the pioneers of ketamine "mind journeys" who ended up dead from their use. And you never know what's really in that bottle. It's your life.

i've read about ketamine and it's benefits to those with bipolar disorder. i am wondering if it can be prescribed for bipolar disorder by a doc?

As an: Anesthesiologist and experience in primary care medicine too i will recommend the use of ketamine as a last resort. A group of researchers at the national institute of mental health have studies proving efficacy, generating rapid antidepressant and antisuicidal effects. I don't think psychiatrist are using it yet for treatment. Talk to your physician for further discussion. Good luck.

i have psychotic depression and no medication is helping me.  i need ketamine but doctors are not prescribing in australia. can i visit usa to get it?

Yes, but why?: Yes, you can come to USA for treatment. You will probably be able to find a doctor or nurse practitioner that will prescribe you whatever you want. But, is that the best option? You should continue to see the doctors that know you best and continue to get treatment through them. Sometimes, it is very difficult to treat certain conditions but doctor shopping is not the best way to seek help.

left hand swollen after my triple bypass. can't seem to get any answer from the doctors here. treatment given: morphine, steroids & ketamine. pls help?

Accepted Answer

How long?: How long after bypass? Did you have an IV infiltrate (the most common cause?) if so, give it time and it will resolve on its own. Be sure it's not infected.
