From one who did it: "fake it until you make it." "to be brave, act brave." do something even though you're terrified, and failure's not as bad as you think.  Get good advice from a reliable person about a life situation or skill; someone without ideology or "all the answers". I often must kick myself in the butt to do something i'm scared of, but the alternative is worse -- living forever in fear and without skills.

Please don't let: others be the measuring stick for who you are.  Clarify what you believe in w/trusted family or friends and live it.  Our "stock" rises and falls, especially in teen years.  Externals like clothing, looks, etc. are ok but don't last.  "Feeling Good" by David Burns may be a helpful book, as can be seeing a psychologist for support.  Peace and good health.

Fear of failure or : Performance anxiety may signify low self-esteem or chronic depression that  can harmfully impact your son's academics & peer interactions as well as his behavior. Only a child psychiatrist &  child psychologist  can determine the etiology (cause) of his symptoms, then discuss treatment/therapy options with you & your son. Adhd & learning disabilities confer ⬆ed risk of anxiety & depression.

Deal with addiction: The best thing you can do for an addict is help them to deal with their addiction. I would suggest groups like celebrate recovery, which would be useful for both of you. As someone in a relationship with an addict, you will have your own stuff to deal with in order for you to both be healthy and happy together.

Bullying: Bullying can happen at any time in life, but when it occurs in adulthood you have more choices about what to do.  I don't know whether your age is truly 48, or if you're actually a minor.  If you're an adult, you can seek out psychotherapeutic care to recover your confidence and strength.  If you're a minor, you need help from your parents to get this care, and also in dealing with the bullies.

Have faith: Well, you are very young to have a lot of anxiety and fears. Life gets better in some ways as you get older, but u have more responsibilities &expectations along the way. You can listen to advice from your parents &older people. Make the best decisions u can, &don't be afraid to take risks. Life is a personal journey &we all fall flat on our faces sometimes, but we get back up &keep trying.

It couldn't hurt: Seriously, the more self-esteem one has, the better one feels about oneself , the easier it is to function personally, interpersonally, and professionally. When we feel confident about ourselves we are better able to perform optimally in all areas. Life happens, but with confidence we have better  strategies and more control to address the issues which always occur.
