Reduce alcohol use:: Start with a non-alcoholic drink, delay the 1st alcoholic drink & increase the delay, measure your drinks, limit to 1/hr, drink slowly, be aware of each drink, alternate alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks, eat before & during drinking, rally support of friends, learn your triggers for excessive drinking & modify/avoid them, fill your life with natural highs, & measure your progress.

Seek help...: Quit!, Seek professional help such as rehab and counseling. Identify the reasons, or root cause(s) behind why you drink. Be honest with yourself... how badly do you want to stop. I doubt if it will be a matter of "cutting down" it is either stop or do not stop. Your call.

Alcohol: Effects depend on the amount consumed. Small to moderate consumption causes reduced risks of blood clots , stone formation , diabetes &amp; rheumatoid arthritis.  Large consumption causes impaired memory &amp; vision, anemia, cardiomyopathy, hepatitis, cancer mouth/esophagus, gastritis, pancreatitis, diabetes type 2, depression, anxiety, psychosis, insomnia, panic, cravings.

Not physical growth: Alcohol in young age may not affect physical growth but will certainly affect psychological development. You need to learn how to manage in the world and alcohol will make this learning much more difficult.

AA does work best: But it's not for everyone. It still is a good idea to take advantage of as many aa components as you can in building a custom treatment. Firm but patient support is really a valuable part as is being open and non-deceptive with at least someone. A physician can prescribe Disulfiram to keep you away from any alcohol. I hear that you want to cut down, not stop and i admire that, but it may not work.

Complicated: Iscd 2010 study ranked etoh as most harmful of all drugs (eg, cirrhosis of the liver, fas, esophageal varices, dementia, premature aging, etoh poisoning ; death, car accidents, crime ; violence). Some argue that in older folks a drink or two (esp red wine) has some health ; psych'l benefits. However, there are far better ; healthier ways to get same benefits. Remember- everything in moderation!

Yes: Alcohol, especially in conjunction with smoking, can increase the risk of head and neck cancers (mouth, larynx, pharynx) and esophageal cancer.  Alcohol also increases the risk of breast, liver, and colorectal cancer.

Alcohol, OCD, etc.: Alcohol consumption, ocd and schizophrenia may have no relationship with each other, and don't cause each other as far as we know.  Someone suffering from ocd or schizophrenia may consume alcohol, and someone suffering from alcoholism might also suffer from ocd or schizophrenia.  It may be helpful to get education from a professional, especially if you have personal concern about these.
