Enzymes 4 Digestion: One gets enzymes for digesting food from their own bodies or from the bacteria that line the gut. Enzymes for digestion do not come from food.  Calories and vitamins come from foods.  As long as you are eating a balanced meal with mostly protein sources for calories you are eating healthy.

It is confusing: Microwaves can cause problems with food...Do not heat anything in plastic . {lastic has bonds that break and then can be carcinogenic. It is ok to reheat food but best not to do original cooking of  it in the microwave. It is best to cook food on the stove or in the oven where it is heated through and through and not just micro- waved.

None: They are safe. There are several old email hoaxes claiming they caused cancer. These were made up by cruel pranksters. If microwaves were dangerous, we would not see them in use at the NIH.

Accepted Answer

Not really: It won't damage minerals or proteins at all. Any cooking can reduce vitamin c content some and some other vitamins to a lesser extent. Boiling vegetables in water actually loses more good stuff into the water. The 'pop' claim that microwaving renders food far less nutritious is just something that folks made up because folks are likely to believe scare stories about new technologies.

Not necessarily: Which is why some people get into trouble (get sick) when they microwave raw chicken- the microwaves may not penetrate evenly (unlike heat from an oven), and some germs which are always there are allowed to survive. Microwaves should only be used for warming up food, not for cooking - since they cannot be trusted. Better to use an oven, fire or grill -something that we know kills those germs.

: The smoke may irritate the lining of your throat and upper airway, but no long term damage is likely. Keep a window open, ventilate the kitchen. Watch for signs of shortness of breath,cough and fever.

: You won't get sick if you clean area and don't eat any possible contaminated noodles. Best buy some sticky pads and place noodles or any food on them to catch the mouse.

Concern: The taste could come from all the possibilities you mentioned.   A one type episode would be highly unlikely to be associated with th h any long term consequences.
