Lifestyle: Regular exercise, good nutrition &amp; enough sleep can help you obtain better control of your blood pressure. Avoid adding salt to your foods and avoid foods loaded w/salt. Stop smoking. Don't drink to excess. Meditate. Do keep track of your blood pressure then bring BP cuff in for calibration to be sure your home readings are accurate. If obese or overweight, lose weight. If sleep apnea, use CPAP!

Blood pressure: Controlling blood pressure without medication can include weight loss, salt restriction, quitting smoking, exercise, possibly taking garlic, as well as 30 min per day of soft soothing music which has been shown to have long term benefit.  While it may not be possible to completely control blood pressure in this manner, it is possible that less medication may be required to control it.

Not usually, unless: Your vision is only affected by extremely high blood pressure, when the effects of high BP affect the retinal vasculature ;/or optic nerve (malignant hypertension). Furthermore retinal blood vessels can be blocked causing loss of vision. Too low of BP usually causes people to feel faint ; pass out. Too low of BP has been thought to contribute to worsening of optic nerve blood flow. Goal bp: 115/70.

If aged 50's, hopefully blood pressure is still in the normal range.
