Around that time.: I generally advise my patients to have intercourse every other day from about four days prior to four days after ovulation.  If you know the day you ovulate based on basal body temp, cervical mucous testing, or ovulation predictor kits, then you can time intercourse based on that information.

Yes: If there are sperm in the vagina, they can live long enough to fertilize the egg when you ovulate.

No: But is possible for the sperm to be viable for 48 hours.  Therefore sex 2 days before ovulation can result in a pregnancy.

Nope: If you haven't ovulated, then you can't conceive.  That's assuming you know when ovulation is to occur based on cycle length, cervical mucus, ovulation predictor kits, or ovulation pain.  It is possible to conceive 11 days before you "think" you are going to ovulate, but not 11 days before you actually ovulate.

Many possibilities: The egg must be picked up by the tube. The tube must not be blocked. Adequate sperm must be able to reach egg in tube at the right time. So cervical mucous must be adequate for sperm  and sperm must be healthy. Embryo must be able to implant in adequately prepared endometrium.

Use urine LH kits: Buy over the counter ovulation predictor kits. Best timing for intercourse is starting 5 days before ovulation up to day of ovulation. Good luck!

Possible: Theoretically, sperm can survive for 5 days. The question is, when exactly did you ovulate and how can you know that?

Ovulation : If you know when you are ovulating then that is the day  you have sex to increase your chance of  getting pregnant.

That's how it works: One gets pregnant by having sex right around the time of ovulation. If you ovulated  around dec 2nd and the calculated conception date is around dec 5th then that is as expected.  Remember there is a couple of day margin of error regarding conception date and ovulation date calculations. A 3 day difference is certainly in the margin of error.
