i feel like there is something stuck in my esophagus. i can drink liquids but when i try to eat solid foods it feels like it gets stuck and i have to clear my throat and drink water for relief. my dr. told me to wait it out, is this the right advise?

Depends: A variety of details that are not apparent play in and watchful waiting is in many instances an option. If symptoms persist or worsen more specialized workup including an upper endoscopy may be needed.

Esophagus Burning: It is usually cause by vomiting/retching or gastric reflux. One of the component in migtaleve is paracetamol, which has NSAID activity and perhaps could cause irritation of the stomach.

Yes: Food can reflux into your esophagus if you eat too much. The stomach acid can lower the pressure of the valve between the stomach and esophagus and food can reflux into the esophagus. Portion control is important if you feel this is happening. Smaller meals would be helpful.

Basic test: A food stuck in the esophagus will cause blockage. If you can swallow fluids, there is no blockage. The sensation can be triggered by a spasm in the structure, often triggered by a sore or irritation from acid reflux. The most specific way to demonstrate what is happening is a visual inspection by a specialized tube/camera passed into the esophagus. This is usually done by GI doctors.

No cleaning required: Unlike the colon, the esophagus has a mechanism of "cleaning" itself through a process called peristalsis.  In health, there should essentially no residual fluid or liquid in the esophagus after a few swallows.
