Throat pain: Smoke of the cigarrettes may cause all kinds of secundary effects especially for the irritants in the smoke allergic rhinitis, laringytis and cough may be involved and we try to avoid exposure of cigarrete smoke on people with asthma.

Increased Illness: The effect of second hand smoke on children is well documented.It has proportionally greater effect on the younger children where it can double or triple the risk of respiratory disease.(ear & sinus infections, bronchitis, pneumonia)the effect is seen even at low smoke levels such that a chronic smoker would not be able to smell the smoke.Problems skyrocket if they smoke with kids present.

This includes middle ear infections, bronchitis and susceptibility to complications of RSV .This includes the well meaning but ineffective effort to "just go outside" to smoke. If there's a smoker in the house/day care/church nursery/elevator your baby will carry the particles in its nose for weeks at a time.

Not really: The material expelled from a e cigarette does not contain the toxic ash expelled from the regular ones. That said, e cigarettes promote the same "cool factor " myth about smoking and if kids find and eat/use the product, can result in significant toxic events.

The solution: don't smoke around your kids (go outside) or quit altogether for the sake of your health (do you want to be sickly or perhaps die before your kids grow up?).
